We're thinking of flying between Seville and Barcelona. Is it a hassle to get to and from the airports? Thanks!
We decided to do this because we got a great rate on Vuehling (budget)Airlines yesterday and it would save us so much time to fly. But I will be interested to see what responses you get to your question about getting to and from airports.
Barcelona has two great Aerobus runs from the airport to Plaza Catalunya. One run goes to and from Terminal 1 and the other run goes to and from Terminal 2. Terminals 1 and 2 are not really that close together at the airport. You will not be walking between them. Here's a link to more information on this airport bus system. http://www.aerobusbcn.com/index.php/en/lines.html
So, I read somewhere that the Ryanair flights (way cheaper between Seville and Barcelona) land in an airport about an hour outside of Barcelona, unlike other pricier flights that land in the major Barcelona airport. Can anyone confirm?
Yes, some Ryanair flights land at Girona, an hour away, instead of El Prat.
In general, Ryan Air does not fly out of any major airport in a major area. The fly out of airports 60-90 minutes outside the major city. Rome-FCO and Barcelona El Prat are rare exceptions. Ryan Air does fly into these airports. I just checked. At Barcelona El Prat, the arrive and depart at Terminal 2 which is in a different part of El Prat near the train station. There is bus transportation between the two terminals and Terminal 2 does have it's own Aerobus trainsportation to and from Plaza Catalunya.
If you look at Ryanair's cool route map on their web page, you can see that flights between Seville and Barcelona only use Barcelona's main airport, El Prat (code: BCN). Ryanair does run a lot of routes from other European cities to Girona (code: GRO), which is an hour or more to Barcelona. Make sure you understand what the final price for Ryainair tickets is with all fees added- I wouldn't think they would be much cheaper than Vueling, the popular Spanish budget airline.
