airpline reservation but no seat available

Hello, I booked passage to Budapest from USA for March 2. At this point , January 1, when I look at the reservation information, the flight from Munich to Budapest shows "not available/canceled". Any one familiar with this? Is it too early for Lufthansa to assign seats for that leg of the journey? wayne iNWI

If you have any concerns, it's best for you just to call Lufthansa to confirm your reservation and request a seat assignment.

Normally, advance seat reservation is not possible for flights within Europe. Seat assignment is usually done at check-in.

Our experience, somewhat limited, is that the some European airlines do not assign seats very far in advance if at all for European legs. Earlier this month fly to Strasbourg via Amsterdam on Delta and Air France. Air France did not assign seats till the gate on the Strasbourg leg. Same thing last year with a Lufthansa leg into Frankfurt.

Flew Lufthansa Berlin to FRA before connecting back to USA. As others have mentioned, seats were not assigned in advance. I wouldn't sweat it, this is a quality airline, they will take care of you. I'd love to hear your trip report when you get back. Oh yeah, there is nowhere here to do that.

"when I look at the reservation information, the flight from Munich to Budapest shows "not available/canceled" THAT sounds like your flight has been cancelled. It wouldn't be the first time that an airline has cancelled a flight and not notified all/any of their customers...I would definitely look into this, and Good Luck! Let us know how this turns out.
