We are going to need to get to these places and wondered if anyone had an opinion about the airlines that fly to this. Considering Vueling and Air Berlin. If I book them online , will I be OK?

Air Berlin is the best low cost carrier in Germany and definitely one of the top 3 of all Europe. Perfectly save to fly Air Berlin, book online, check-in online etc.

You'll be fine. I've flown Vueling several times and have received excellent service. Just beware of all discount airlines' check-in and luggage policies.
