Hmmm...with the big ticket change fee, you'd need a pretty steep ticket price on a domestic ticket to make this worthwhile. (And vouchers that are time limited may not be worth using if you wouldn't have flown that airline anyway within the time period.)
Thanks for the item, even though I'm skeptical that it will generally pay off. Unless of course you fly Southwest, whose policy looks terrific in comparison with those of the legacy airlines.
Now, if only international tickets were included. Right now I'm getting 1700 dollar fares to Europe for a mid summer flight, and I just know there will be better fares out there at some point. I wish I could just book now and know I could get a refund later...
I think Orbitz now has some kind of deal where they will automatically refund you if there is a price drop on your itinerary up to something like 200 dollars. I haven't checked it out, though. Don't know if it applies to international flights or not. And I am pretty sure that it only applies for the exact itinerary--which may mean that open jaw flights are unlikely to be covered.
