I've bought Delta gift cards. Actually for myself! Occasionally, Delta has an offer for a free Starbucks gift card with the purchase of a Delta gift card. So far, they've done it at CHristmas and mother's day. I have already used the Christmas one on a trip home for my daughter. A couple things, one the gift card needs to be manually added to an account. It won't show up in the credits section. I am very careful to save the email confirmation with the code and PIN. There wasn't an expiration date.

Delta gift cards are great. When I retired, I was given a Delta gift card by my firm with the substantial amount on it and it was wonderful. I was able to take several trips with it. As Jules said, make sure you save the information.
