I am planning to go to Croatia for 2 weeks in mid-June, traveling north to Germany for another 2 weeks, then heading home to San Francisco. Airfares currently look very expensive ($1700). Any ideas about how to find something more reasonable would be greatly appreciated!
Have you tried Luftansa (sp?)R/T to Germany. I found NW SEA-Prague r/t in August for $1550. I am only taking NW because I pay for one ticket and get a second for milage. Good luck
Every summer when i go to europe from SFO I start price shopping in Feb. Then I sign up for email alerts from my preferred airlines. Right now I see United has better priced flights to Frankfurt from SFO then perhaps you can return from Munich. Consider cheap intereurope airlines like Vueling, Ryanair, easyjet etc. Also Lufthansa is opening some new routes, as a promotion often times they fares are lower. I came back on Luft Aug 2007 it was roomy, comfortable and great food and flight attendants they are my favorite now if the fare is right.
I too am going to Slovenia, Croatia & Bosnia, leaving May 22 or 23. Am playing a waiting game on airfare as I agree it is very expensive now. Will probably fly into Venice, take a train to Ljubljana and then fly out of Dubrovnik to Paris on June 6. Be patient, fares will start to come down late Feb., early March. I have learned to wait, that the planes don't sell out early, that patience is a virtue and pays off when traveling to Europe. It's like a detective game.
Thanks for the helpful suggestions!
