Airfare question ... good fare, short layover

Hi, I just wanted to gauge some opinions on this situation. I finally have the cash to purchase my tickets (MSY-BCN May 22; PMI-MSY June 7) but it appears I missed the great Iberia sale and now everything is exceptionally high. I've found one flight for $870 (great price from my airport) but the flight leaves only 1.26 hours for a plane change in PHL. I know that's too short, but I'm getting a little desperate. Is it worth the risk? If I miss the connecting flight but am ticketed all the way through on US Air, what would their responsibility be? I apologize if this is ridiculous, but as I said, I'm a little desperate and I don't want to do anything rash without consulting the experts. Thanks for any guidance you might be able to offer.

An hour and a quater is plenty of time to change planes in Philadelphia.

Your bags are checked through to Spain, so all you have to do is hike yourself from one gate to the other. If US Air botches it because your first plane is late, they have to take care of you.

Go for it.

Thanks! I think I'm going to end up doing it ... I'm just worried I'll miss the connection and lose a full day of my trip. Then again, I guess that's better than not being able to afford the trip in the first place ....

philly is my home airport--trust me, unless something unforseen happens, you are fine with that amount of time for a layover. and something unforseen can ALWAYS happen--we missed a connecting flight home from vancouver and we were scheduled a four hour layover in toronto (the plane left vancouver over twelve hours late!) have a great trip!

Thank you both for responding ... Your advice is greatly appreciated. I went ahead and booked the flight! Every other fare I saw was in the $1200 range, so figured it was worth the risk. And these days, even if you have hours between flights, I guess there's no guarantee of getting anywhere on time, anyway. I'm excited! I was starting to think we wouldn't get to take our trip this year.
