Airfare movement

For those who only see fares rising, here's an interesting example. I forgot I asked Google Flights to keep track of premium econ fares from LAX to Vienna in October. Yesterday I got an email saying the fare had dropped $200, and I got another similar email today.

So the all-seeing all-knowing fare computers have decided they aren't selling enough seats for October.

I’ve seen other posts saying fare reductions are also happening for some September flights. It seems their algorithms were off, or maybe a lot of people decided to forego flying because of all the airport and train mayhem this summer.

Hopefully they will go down. We have our trip planned for October all done except for the airfare which we have been watching. Last March we bought tickets on AF for around $550 From US to Nice, and back out of CDG. Everything is about double right now, but when those fares drop, we will buy. If they don't, will just wait until they do. Check about every other day all the airlines. We want to go in to Rome and out of CDG.

On seeing this I’ve just looked at pricing for my tickets in September, November, and January. No fare reductions—some are up. But I do appreciate the heads up to look.

I have the opposite experience. About 2-3 weeks ago I booked a flight to Venice for October 2022. But I forgot to turn off my Google flight tracker. Three days ago, I got notification that the price for the exact flight I had booked went up by $200.
