Airfaire question

Originally our plan was to fly out of Berlin on our way home and while that's not really a problem it would be so much easier to fly out of Krakow, Poland but the price increases some $250 (at least per travelocity). I take it they charge a fee for flying into one country and out another?

Your input would be appreciated.

While flying into one country and out of another may increase the price you pay, airfares are based more upon supply and demand. I would tend to think that since Berlin is the capital of Germany, it gets more passengers than Krakow, so there are more airlines and flights, so prices are cheaper.

Gary, where are you flying into and when, and when would you like to fly out? Maybe other people reading this know of an even better booking source. The problem with Krakow is that it's not a big international airport and therefore airlines don't consider it as a gateway airport.

More than likely late next Mar/ April (I know I research wayyyyyy in advance lol). Flying into Frankfurt, out of Berlin or Krakow (preferred).

Thanks

Check Air France, Lufthansa for an Open Jaw Berlin-Krakow, try any other carrier for just Berlin or alternatively search for other airports served from Krakow by WizzAir and CentralWings. You could open jaw with one of those other airports and Berlin as well...

Don't think of this as an open jaw return. Think of it as two seperate one way tickets and try to book accordingly. That way you get more flexibility because you can use whichever airline gives you the best one way price in one dirrection and the airline that gives you the best one way price in the other direction. If you don't use the same airline in both directions and shop arround for the best fare on each flight, you have a much better chance of getting a lower price.
