Air Transat Option Plus vs. Club Class + Travel Agent

I am flying with Air Transat (Economy) and recently read several reviews about their seats and the comfort level. I read about Club Class (similar to business class but not quite the experience of business class that you would get through BA or AF). However, I don't understand if you are "upgraded" with Option Plus.

How much would have you paid for an upgrade? My friend called the travel agent and was quoted $250/one way.

I also have a travel agent question and complaint. I would like to know what I can do. I booked through my friend's travel agent but I'm not happy. My last dealing with her was unprofessional and she was rude and cold towards me. I asked her a few questions about changing departure dates and destination and was blunt in her response. She basically told me that Air Transat didn't fly out of Lamezia and Rome but didn't offer any suggestions or other help. I then e-mailed her to find out what other destinations were available but the e-mails kept returning to my inbox. I figured out that she blocked me. I then called Air Transat after work on Friday and discovered that there were flights out of Lamezia and Rome. I called her and she was VERY cold and distant. She was not friendly. I had my friend contact her this morning because I didn't want to deal with her but I don't like feeling this way. I don't want to have this experience before a 2 month European trip. I don't want to let her upset me. However, I also don't feel it's right that she has treated me disrespectfully. What can I do? I know that there is a board that deals with complaints but doesn't accept personal complaints. Have you had this experience before?

Thanks.

Hi Isabella
I think I can clear up your Transat question about Option Plus. Basically you're still in economy seats but with a few perks...the seat selection cost is included, you can take a bit more luggage, and your snacks are better, that kind of thing. It's definitely not comparable to Club Class, where the big bonus is more legroom and better meals. The cost of Club Class varies with the itinerary but for some people is definitely worth it.

About the agent propblem, if you've already paid in full you can't get out of the flights without penalty I'm afraid. However, you could ask around and get a recommendation for another agent to handle the rest of the trip, and you can always take your concerns about her unprofessional conduct to her supervisor. A good agent will be friendly, helpful, and address all your concerns. You're not obligated to keep dealing with one that makes you uncomfortable. Hope this helped!
