Air France/KLM has agreed to buy Alitalia. They're waiting for Italian government approval which should come soon. Air France said they will streamline Alitalia's operation to one hub (FCO) instead of two (MXP).
I can't decided if this is a good thing or not. Probably won't affect air fares but might improve Alitalia's service.
