This might be the way of the future (short term, at least). MSC started offering low cost Covid insurance to passengers when they started sailing again last month.

I read about the new Manulife travel policy this morning in the Toronto Star. It's giving me hope that we just might get our trip to Cuba this winter after all. The coverage ($200,000) isn't great), and certainly would be insufficient for trips to the States, but it's better than nothing. Interesting that it won't cover cruises- in the unlikely event that cruises even start up again from US ports.
I will confess I didn't read the fine print, but yes $200,000 doesn't sound great. Annoying, as my next trip is slated to be a cruise Dubai to Italy (I say Italy as the final port has changed twice)....and I don't know if return includes open jaw. However, as the cruise is MSC, maybe I could combine the policies.
I would love a winter trip, but even if Canada opens international travel, I am not sure if my work as essential services will make it too restrictive to accomplish.
Yeah, return to work would be complicated if the current 2 week quarantine is still in effect. Fortunately, we're both retired, so it isn't a factor for us.
WestJet did the same thing last week - tempting!
You'll still end up with a voucher when your flight is cancelled, and there is a very good chance it will be over the foreseeable future. Sure, there are still AC and West Jet flights to Europe from Canada but your Monday departure might turn in to a Wednesday departure, as I was recently offered, and my Saturday return was changed to the preceding Thursday.
