AIDA German Cruise Line for American Cruisers...

I am researching doing a From/To Hamburg cruise to Iceland and hope to get some comments on this Cruise Line.

We have limited German speaking and reading skills and we know they only cater to the German market.

Anyone have suggestions for us? I have had a few emails back and forth with them and AIDA does state that they have an international guest service team with English-speaking staff.

Any comments are welcomed.

Love the forum and thanks to all of you for taking the time to post.

Mike, I would expect that many of your fellow passengers along with cruise staff will speak enough English that you will have no problems. You can also use Google Translate app to read menus.

Here's a post from last year on Cruise Critic discussing language. It sounds like the staff speaks more English than German.

If like most cruise lines, the staff and crew rarely are made up, in this case, native Germans. They are usually pretty international in make-up, and English a common interactive language to use.

Go, don't worry about it too much, you can get by, helped along with Google translate.

I would check out the videos on the Youtube channel Very Unofficial Travel Guides. He has several videos on Aida. He is an American living in Germany
