aerobus vs taxi from Barcelona Airport to Hotel in center of town

What is the price for a taxi from the Barcelona Airport to my hotel
just two blocks off Placa de Catalunya. Is it worth the extra money for the taxi.
Is there a place to put your luggage on the aerobus? Does the taxi take you directly to your hotel or does it drop you off and you have to walk.

Thanks

Hi Dana, Unless you have tons of luggage or mobility problems, I would highly suggest taking the Aerobus. It takes you right to Placa Catalunya for probably 1/4, maybe even less, than what a taxi would cost. It's super easy to find at the airport (just follow the bus signs) and if your hotel is only a couple blocks from the Placa, it will be a short walk.

Just a follow-up...

How much Luggage can u take on the AeroBus.../

I'm going to BCN on business trip, and I will have three pieces ( 1 business suitcase, 1 briefcase, and one backpack)....

I hear from my Hotel, that I can only take one piece on the Aerobus...perhaps they were trying to steer me to a taxi, or a hotel limo...

Please kindly Advise

Have a look on the official aero us website:

http://www.aerobusbcn.com/index.php/en.html

In the FAQ, under "Are there luggage restrictions?" It says that " everything that can be taken on the airplane can be taken on the bus." No mention of limitson number of bags, or extra charges.

We had two pieces each ( carry-on and personal item) when we went and no one blinked.

I think your hotel is trying to steer you toward a taxi without good reason!

The aero bus has a five euro charge for its complete route....no matter where you get on or off, the charge is the same. You will be only a couple of blocks from your hotel as I recall. Also, I have traveled it several times and have never encountered any question for the number of pices of luggage anyone had. There are luggage racks as you enter the door, on the floor level, and in an upper level, and they are in your full view. The taxi will cost you approximately 35 - 40 euros at this time.

Dana,

I made that trip in June and would recommend using the AeroBus, as it will be the cheapest method. I don't know what a Taxi would cost from the airport to Plaça Catalunya, but likely at least €50 or more if the traffic is thick. I found that in some parts of that trip, traffic was "stop & go" so I was glad I had chosen the Bus.

Luggage shouldn't be a problem. As I recall, there's a rack in the centre of the Bus where you can place larger items. Depending on how crowded the Bus is at the time, you should be able to keep carry-on and smaller items with you. I doubt there are any restrictions on the number of bags (within reason of course).

"Does the taxi take you directly to your hotel or does it drop you off and you have to walk."

That will depend on which hotel you're staying in. The hotel I was using was part way down La Rambla (which is primarily a pedestrian zone) and located in a small side street, so I had a short walk in any case. I doubt that a Taxi would have been able to access that particular hotel so a walk from Plaça Catalunya would be necessary. Other hotels would have easier vehicle access.

Happy travels!
