You are fortunate that you can get to one of AerLingus'. gateway airports.
Us MidAmericans have to pay full price or find a discount airline to get us to a gateway reasonably.

Not sure how widespread, but I've noticed some incredible fares offered today on American. For example, early June - Minneapolis to Zurich roundtrip for $493.
