Aerlingus seems to offer very cheap flights to Dublin but I've read some negative reviews. Any opinions about flying this airline?
I have flown from Chicago to Ireland numerous times with Aer Lingus and I love them! The staff is pleasant and helpful, the flights were all on time (or early) getting in, and even the food was good. They are my preferred airline for flying to Ireland.
I flew Airlingus from London to Dublin & Dublin to Edinburgh a couple of years ago. No issues at all. Certainly no worse than any Canadian/American Airlines I fly on, and I fly an average of 90 flights/year. I wouldn't hesitate in booking a flight with them.
Flew Aer Lingus a few years back with my family (2 adults, 2 teens). Found them to be fine. On-Time, reasonably priced if you book early, no issues. I would not hesitate to fly with them again next time we go to Ireland.
I have only good things to say about my experiences with Aerlingus.
What were the negative reviews that you refer to?
Just curious...
We flew with them last September-they were fine. We were delayed taking off in SF, but they gave us a food voucher. One thing about them: your carry on can only weigh 13 pounds or less. This is one of the lowest weight limits I have experienced and did require us to check an extra piece of luggage. (we were doing a lot of hiking. We wore our hiking boots on the plane, but I think the extra pair of shoes in the carry on was putting us over our limit) Even with 2 plane changes and a change of airlines (we flew SEA to SFO on Alaska) our luggage arrived just fine.
That would be my comment, also. Watch the carryon weight limit. It is 6 kg. If you like to do carryon only, it's a problem for most people.
My husband and I flew Aerlingus roundtrip from Chicago to Shannon last April and we had a great experience. The food was good and the staff was friendly.
I flew Sfo-Lhr Dublin and return and thought they were great. the fare was great also.
