I'm planning a United (by Aer Lingus) to United connection through Heathrow on a Saturday mid-day. Single United purchase from Cork to O'Hare, with luggage checked through to ORD. How long should I allow between flights for Heathrow processes?
Thanks
I'm not entirely clear on your route, except for the last part from Cork to O'Hare. Where will you be prior to arrival at LHR?
I was through Heathrow last month and although it was very efficient, it will take time especially if they're processing a lot of passengers at that time. You'll likely have to go through security again, which will also take time. That was the case with my flights, even though I had just come from a direct flight and hadn't been in any unsecured areas. I'd allow at least 1.5 hours.
Thanks Ken. I'll be coming from Cork through Heathrow connecting with a United flight there to O'hare. I'm guessing that it will all take place in Terminal #2. The flights I'm looking at allow 2:15 for the change.
Heathrow's website has a wonderful connection tool. Put in all your details, and it will tell you all the needed steps and estimated time required: http://www.heathrow.com/flight-connections
Thanks Harold. I did use their connections tool from the Heathrow site and it came up with 65 minutes being required. Call me skeptic, but I am just trying to get some personal references of the reality. If everyone has found that the Heathrow estimate mirrors reality, then I'm good. Just don't want to assume too much as I'm making arrangements for 8 of us and missing the connection to ORD will not be good.
This is a very easy connection for Heathrow. Effectively all you will need to go through is the security check. The UK like the USA doesn't take on trust the airport security checks of any other country.
Thanks Marco, looks like we're good to go.
Just a final thought - T2 can involve a lot of walking.
