We have a trip to Dublin on Aer Lingus, trip insurance with Allianz, and one of us now has a serious health problem. Should I use the insurance or wait for Aer Lingus to refund our trip?
Our trip on June 12th Seattle to Dublin with Aer Lingus is showing up cancelled, we but have not received any cancellation notice from the airline, only a voucher or change offer. The return flight on the 28th is still being offered, as of now. I am wondering if the initial flight disruption will deem the entire trip a cancellation?
I'd rather have the airlines cancel and refund, but am I being realistic about my chances?
You should be able to get a refund from Aer Lingus. You will have to call the airline to accomplish this.
FWIW, I received a refund from Allianz for the cost of the premium for trip cancellation insurance I bought in connection with my Delta flight that was cancelled.
Sorry about your illness. Don’t try to get a refund on line. I would call Aer Lingus and ask. If you are turned down (And I’d be surprised if that happens), use your insurance. Otherwise, should the airline refund your fare you should apply for a refund of your travel insurance premium. We had Travelex, applied on line, got a refund in a few weeks.
We had a London to Dublin flight and received a voucher. They gave us 10% more and a 5 year expiration date.
