I know Aer Lingus has an online option to check in up to 30 days in advance. I have tried to check in for a 9/28/13 trip but it errors out. I'll call Aer Lingus but instead of sitting on hold for a half hour I thought I'd ask here! Can I check-in in advance on an International Flight from the US? Thanks, Mike & Sherry

You can check in with many carriers but I don't think you can get a boarding pass without showing your passport at the counter.

Never mind, I found the answer online. Due to TSA rules, no advance check in from the US to Dublin. You have to check in at the airport. Thus the 3 hour lead time I guess!

That's odd. I was able to check in online for an international flight from US to London last month (different carrier). If it's a TSA rule, shouldn't it be the same for all carriers?

Not true, either. I printed my boarding pass at home for the aforementioned trip to London. I showed my passport at security. Seems like a carrier-specific rule, not TSA.

Crazy, I'm a law abiding citizen! :) I just want to hold it in my hands, feel it, smell it and look at it until I take off!
