Is there a way to get directions a la AAA for tuscany? I know Ireland has a great AA which helps you set your directions.
Holly, since all the automobile associations do offer such kind of help try the ACI (www.acit.it - open thru babelfish). I know the German Automobile Club ADAC (Partner of the US AAA) can help you with turn-by-turn dircetions and any other kind of help in all European countries (including Italy), so in case the ACI can't help you you might want to try the English, Irish, French or German Automobile Club. If it's just for directions try mapquest, Google maps or Map24.com.
Holly - try the via-michelin website. Great turn by turn directions and they also show all tolls and your approximate fuel costs. Before I go I make up a small notebook containing the routes I know I'll drive along with my Michelin regional map and I am all set. Plus, the roads are generally well marked in Tuscany - it is a lot of fun just to take a turn off of say S222 (the chianti road) and just see where it takes you - found some great quiet villages and wonderful restaurants that way. Have fun!
Take a look at http://maps.google.com/
You can maps, satellite pictures and detailed driving directions.
We always use viamichelin for driving directions. Sorry, but using AAA is just a little more helpful than asking my next-door neighbor :-)
