American Airlines is either dropping or not re-starting some international routes due to a shortage of new planes. This will mostly affect next summer.
The European cities affected are: Edinburgh, Shannon, Berlin, Budapest, Dubrovnik. Prague and Reykjavik.
Frank, thanks for this update as I’ve been considering booking open jaw American flights for late May/June which would have included a return flight from Edinburgh.
A leg of our return trip from Naples in May on American was canceled yesterday and needed to be rebooked. Unfortunately our only option was to fly the long segment home on Iberia or British Air through LHR. With current covid protocol in England, LHR was a no go so we will be on Iberia. Aargh. But the chances of having to rebook again in the interim is a strong possibility so I’m not going to worry about it now. Canceling with AA was not an option as flight prices right now are way higher than when I booked our flights several months ago.
