AA canceled my flight to Lisbon for July

Forever hopeful, I kept my travel plans to Lisbon for July, and figured if necessary, I would cancel as time got closer to departure. I just checked my flight details on the AA website, and saw that the connecting flight from DFW to PHL was not canceled, but the flight from PHL to LIS was gone. Based on this, I am assuming AA is not planning on resuming flights to many parts of Europe this summer. If you are holding a reservation to go abroad, keep an eye on it. I was not given any notification of the cancellation from American.

Footnote: On 4/7 I was able to speak with an AA representative (without any wait), and was informed there will be no flights all summer to Lisbon on AA. I imagine that will be true for other cities as well.

Nor were we notified when it became apparent that our return flight this month from Dublin to Philadelphia could no longer exist. No problem as their procedures for dealing with this were fluid through March. Once the itinerary was removed from our ticket, there was no problem arranging a full refund, even though these were basic economy tickets. If "cancel" does not appear as an option, call them, and there should be no problem. I would recommend calling early AM, like around 8, as will be easier to get through.

I've gotten cancellations from AA and, despite being part of their loyalty program (LOL - my autocorrect spelled it "royalty" at first), have never received an email alert (even when specifically signing up for one related to a specific flight). There is something seriously off with that airline. They make the most flight changes and they seem to notify the least, even though it should be an automated alert (no human intervention required). Buyer beware.

Agnes, you computer’s auto correct gave me a much needed chuckle today. It evidently has high opinions of you as a royal vs loyal customer.😊

Agnes, you are so right. I am loyal to AA because of my platinum status, but there have been innumerable times our international flights have been canceled or completely changed without any notice given to us (eg - changed days, changed from 2 flights to 3 flights, changed airport connections). It is frustrating, which Is why I try to check my account weekly so that there is time to make changes to their changes. BTW, my computer auto-correct did not try to change my typing to "royal". Guess it has me pegged.

I rarely fly AA because they are rated worst of the legacy carriers for schedule changes and online performance. The few tickets I've had with them have encountered changes, no notifications, and a 3 hour wait on the tarmac on my last flight due to mechanical issues. I'm not loyal to any airline, but will try to stay clear of AA if possible just because I've had nothing but bad luck with them (compared to other carriers).

We were scheduled to go to Budapest and Prague in September/October. Those flights were cancelled. I believe it is because they are accelerating the retirement of the Boeing 767 and the Airbus A330-200. Those were the planes flying my routes.
