American Airlines is adding a bunch of flights to Europe next year:
Thanks for posting. I almost have enough miles for two RT flights to Europe. Hopefully these new flights will make it easier to book award travel.
Great, thanks!
Only one of these made me go, "Wow!" - and that's the new PHL-DBV service! I plan to go back to the Balkans again - love Slovenia and Croatia - and getting to/from Dubrovnik/Montenegro has always been a headache on past trips. Too many connecting flights to deal with. The idea that I could fly directly to/from DBV and PHL is exciting - could save me a ton of time! I too have a ton of AA miles (and some on Alaska, an AA partner) so that might work out someday!! Looks like it might be only in the summer though...
If only they were using a real plane for the Philadelphia based flights, instead of the antiquated 757's and 767's left over from US Air. NosSeat-back IFE and no power at seats save DC, not good for a flight of that length - we otherwise love that non-stop to Dubrovnik from here.
They have added PHX-LHR when partner airline British Airlines has flown this route for many years and offers a far superior Premium Economy to AA. Does not make sense. Why not offer PHX to another city in Europe? AMS, CDG,
FCO?
And AA is always more expensive on code shares with BA than BA.
While I am happy that American Airlines added a nonstop flight from Phoenix, according to our local paper it is only scheduled to operate from March to October
Question for those of you who may have booked reward flights with American. What kind of fees are typically tacked onto transAtlantic flights?
We’ve taken multiple domestic trips with AA miles and it’s usually been a $10 fee for the tickets. But when I recently plugged in a theoretical itinerary to Edinburgh, it showed almost $1,100 in fees for two tickets. Is this normal? I only played around with it one afternoon and haven’t looked again.
Just thought I’d ask here since some of you referenced award travel here.
Stoutfella,
Those high fees on mileage tickets are like due to some or all of the flights are operated by British Air.
There was the recent thread regaryBA and it’s high fees.
Rocket: Thanks for the link. I had missed that thread.
