I'm trying to book a flight for our son to join us in Europe this summer. If I book a flight from Seattle to Paris to Madrid, would he go through customs in Paris or Madrid? I found a great flight for him; but there is only an hour between connections at CDG from Paris to Madrid; and if he needs to go through customs in Paris that obviously won't work.
The immigration (passport) check will be at CDG. There will also be a security screening at CDG.
Thanks Michael. I'll see if I can find a flight that has at least two hours between connections.
While some may disagree, I rarely worry about connection time. Your carrier has a responsibility to get you to your destination, and will not book an unreasonable connection, but will work to make your connection. I have had airlines usher me though security(passport check), hold planes, put me on other airlines, generally assure that I make my flight. I would be less concerned about an "intra-europe" flight than a trans-Atlantic, but only because the option for another flight would likely be the next day, where-as a regional flight would have more options.
