Is a day trip to Orvieto AND Civita doable without pushing it? We'll be traveling from Rome to Orvieto by train and was wondering if visiting Civita (by bus) can be done in a one-day trip. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,
Donna
Donna, As you're planning to visit both Orvieto and Civita in one day, that would be "pushing it" (IMHO). The trip from Orveto to Civita takes some at least an hour each way, and I believe the Cotral Bus only operates until the late afternoon (they add a few runs during the school year). The small Shuttle that runs from Bagnoregio to the base of the bridge at Civita also operates on limited hours and as I recall, they have a "siesta" in the afternoon. Visiting Orvieto on a day trip is certainly possible, and it wouldn't be difficult to spend a full day there. While adding a trip to Civita may be feasible, it wouldn't really allow a lot of time to see either place. Happy travels!
Yes. I did it with no problem. Civita is really a very small place.
