Hello all! We are going to Italy for 16 days and recently saw Rick Steves' segment on Cinque Terre. Would anyone be able to tell me the easies and fasted way to get there from Florence? Also, any suggestions on where to stay once we are in Cinque Terre? Thank you.

Take the train. See the timetables and fares at www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html. Enter Firenze as your departure station and the Cinque Terre town of your choice as your arrival point.

We have not been to Cinque Terre yet, but we will be there this year with a hiking group. Our leader is familiar with the area, and has booked us into the Hotel Punta Mesco (3 stars) in Monterosso al Mare. Our contact there is Diego, who seems very helpful and writes fluent English in his e-mails. The hotel has only about 16 rooms, and seems to fill up.
