After reading about the Oyster card for the Tube, we decided it would be the best bet for our 3 day stay. One question: Can I get just one card and put 10-20 pounds on it and have both of us use it? (eg: one scans card and passes it back to the other to scan) Or do we need a card for each person?

No, you each need your own card unless you are traveling at separate times.

Steve, as Swan mentioned, you'll EACH need to have an Oyster Card. I suspect if you try the "Pass Back" routine, you'll get nicked by the authorities very quickly! The deposit is only £3.00 plus whatever fare you decide to add, so it's not really that expensive.
