Trenitalia Site ?

Hi, I have tried to purchase tickets on the trenitalia site tonight, and I was on Safari and then FireFox and it would not allow me to enter my email address in the final "Buyer contact" boxes. Any thoughts ? I am on a Mac, should I go to the library tomorrow and use a PC and do the reservations through Internet Explorer? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Terry

The Trenitalia site is notoriously balky. I seem to recall I had a similar problem when I registered to get tickets in April. If my memory serves me, it did not seem to like my ISP. I ended up using my emergency yahoo.com address and it liked that one.

Make sure that you register on the site. There is an option to proceed with the purchase without registering and we've seen posters having issues with this method.

If you can buy the same tickets on Italiarail, you might try that. Otherwise, sometimes just waiting a day or two allows Trenitalia to work out its kinks so that you can use it. I fought with it for two days earlier this summer, with multiple email addresses and computers. Then I went away for a few days, came back, and it worked perfectly.

HI, I did register on the site as I thought that would do the trick, I do have a gmail account, might try that or might just buy the tickets on the italiarail site as that one seems to work just fine.

Thanks Charlene, I will give that a try, although we leave on the 7th and I'm getting a little anxious, but I will try---thanks for the suggestion. Terry (also in Centennial!)

Thanks Larry for asking, I am trying to buy tickets to Monza from Milan on Sunday the 9th, then on Monday the 10th from Milan to Riomaggiore, then on the 13th from Vernazza to Speiz, Switzerland. I know I have to wait to buy the Monza tickets until I am within a week (although I did find them on the italia rail site)--a bit anxious about that one as it is for the Formula One race on Sunday. And, as far as the other tickets, I just wanted to have my "ducks in a row" so I didn't have to worry about purchasing them while on vacation. Do you have any suggestions ? Terry

There is a Regional train from Milano C at 7:25 am no change to Riomaggiore for 18.30 EU. There are later trains with change of trains as low as 11 EU but require advance booking. The regional option has no advantage to advance purchase, so that is your back up plan. For Vernazza to Spiez, you can book through SBB for 68 CHF. ($70 or 56 EU). So you have options while you beat your head against the trenitalia site.

HI,
and thanks for the reply, I saw the 725 train, but, could not purchase it, but thinking of either that train or the 810 that changes....but at this point I still can't buy either through the trenitalia site, I'll wait one more day and try again---but you mentioned SBB ? What is that ? I was going to buy the Speiz leg of our travels through trenitala also, is there another site I should be looking at for that ? Terry

SBB.ch is the Swiss national rail site. For the leg where Spiez is your end point, you can buy it from Swiss Rail. And as you would expect, the site is fully available in four languages, including English, and works flawlessly. One less leg to worry about anyway.

This is the Swiss rail site. Since you are traveling to Switzerland, you can purchase from them. There may be a price difference. As for the 725 from Milan you don't need to buy in advance, only if you want to to save the 7 EU on a later train.

If it is a regional train the tickets never sell out because there are NO reservations. Just get on and go. No point in buying early. Buy an hour before you need it AND BE SURE TO VALIDATE THE TICKET or it will be a very expensive ride.
