I'd like to find a hotel/guesthouse VERY close to Gare Montparnasse. Clean, safe, and hopefully quiet; very simple is fine. I'd like to spend around 80E if possible, but I can pay more if necessary. I'm seeing lots of business-type hotels, which are more expensive. Any suggestions?

Sherry , we stayed in Montparnasse last september for 10 days and used an ibis hotel that worked for us. That particular location does not seem to be currently available but there are several others in the immediate area that seem to be at reasonable prices ( although not as low as you would prefer . after all , it is Paris. ) Additionally you don't say when you are going . Keep in mind that September is a very rough month due to trade and fashion shows . In any event we have been pleased with the accor hotels that we used ( ibis , mercure , etc.) and suggeest you look at the accor website . I think you can find something that you will like .
