We will be in Hallstatt Austria this summer and need to get back to the Munich airport to go home. Is there a train from Hallstatt to Munich airport?

Is there 'a' train all the way from Hallstatt to the Munich airport? Of course not. There are, however, multi-train connections. You can use the German Rail (Bahn) website to find connections. There is a single train from Hallstatt to Attnang-Puchheim, which is on the main line from Vienna to Salzburg. Attnang-Puchheim to Munich Hbf will probably take two trains, one to Salzburg and the other from Salzburg to Munich Hbf. Munich Hbf to the Munich airport will have to be a separate segment by S-bahn. Depending on the train from Salzburg to Munich, you can get off at Munich Ostbahnhof, before the Hbf, and take the S-Bahn directly to the airport. There are buses from Hallstatt to Salzburg, but they will take more time.
