Hi, we're driving from Barcelona to Logrono and then to Madrid next month. How are the highways between these cities and how much are the tolls?
Once you clear Barcelona, it's uncrowded four-lane freeway the whole way. All the tolls are on the first leg and run just under fifty bucks. For a single day it's a long one, maybe nine hours including a quick lunch stop and two really quick rest/gas stops. If you're going to take more than one day: On the first leg, a slight detour to Pamplona for a couple or three hours (including lunch) is something you wouldn't regret. You'd have to balance that with a pause in Zargoza (world-class, almost, but nobody seems to know about it). On the second leg, you'll go right by Burgos which is worth a couple hours.
