We would like to take a one day trip from Rome to Florence and back again to Rome in late June. Does anyone have any suggestions on the easiest method of travel? thanks, mary ann

Train, the fast ones are only 1.5 hours each way. If you know which trains you want to take you can take advantage of mini fares, just be aware of the restrictions.

Absolutely the train. Take the fastest one you can and no changes. You can buy your tickets ahead of time on the Trenitalia website.
