7PM Rule I'm Confused

If I depart Paris after 7PM and arrive in Prague with required changes 13 hours later, will the 7PM rule apply? I'm confused about the way it was explained on one site saying it had to be a direct train. Please help Rick!! Thanks in advance...Logan

There is no qualifying overnight train route from Paris to Prague. The only night trains departing Paris go to Italy or toward south-central France.

If you take a evening train to Mannheim and connect there to the overnight InterCity bus to Prague, that uses two days of a flexi-style rail pass.

You might want to compare flight options on www.skyscanner.com.

According to the Eurail website, the 7 PM rule applies to

travel on trains that depart after 7 p.m. (19:00) and arrive at their final stop after 4 a.m. (04:00), even
if you leave the train before 4 a.m.

I don't see any trains in a Paris to Prague connection leaving Paris after 7 PM that meet this requirement.

I think this rule was intended to allow people to use a single day of their pass on overnight trains, which are becoming obsolete.

Also, another reason rail passes are becoming obsolete.

Every Pass expires on last date of Validity by midnight at 00 hrs...But if you have boarded in Train which has left your boarding point after 1900 hrs and you get down at your disembarking point before 0400 hrs next morning.. your said travel with the refereed pass is treated as Valid..I think this is 7PM Rule
