Trip Insurance

What is the deal with trip insurance? Is it worth it? We are buying 2 multi-city tickets 4 months in advance for a 2 month trip and booking with Aer Lingus. Any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated.

There is a current thread about travel and medical insurance in the General Europe section. As with other things, there are many opinions on whether you need it and for what. In general, trip insurance (cancellation, etc) only covers unrecoverable costs. If your airline tickets are usable on another date in the future, they would not be covered. Basically, it would be for things like prepaid package deals, nonrefundable deposits, etc., and only for covered reasons. Medical and med evac insurance, in my opinion, are more important, particularly if you have no medical coverage from your employers while you are abroad. At www.insuremytrip.com you can compare many different policies with many different levels and types of coverage, so you can buy only what you need.
