Will be in Barcelona for 5 days and want to make the trip to Montserrat. Which train station should we use and how long will it take and the approximate cost?? Thanks for any help. Marc

You need to get the FGC (Catalan regional railways) train from Placa d'Espanya. Either get the train to Montserrat Aeri and transfer to aerial tramway, or to Monistrol de Montserrat and change to a rack railway. The latter is ninety minutes, the former is a bit faster. The fares vary a great deal depending on whether you decide to pay for any of the individual sights at Montserrat at the same time as your rail ticket. It ranges from 10.35 euro for just the train return journey to 32.15 for the train, all the local funiculars up at Montserrat, the museum and a buffet meal.
