Has anyone taken the Malpensa Express to Saronno and then the Le Nord train to Como recently? If so do you purchase one ticket at the Malpensa Airport or two tickets, and can these be purchased on line at Trenitalia.com?
I've never taken the Malpensa Express, but I've followed it on the Internet for years. For most of that time, it has not been shown on the Trenitalia website because it was a privately run train line, Le Nord. Recently it has shown up on Trenitalia, so I don't know what to think. Is it still private but Trenitalia is admitting to it, or has Trenitalia bought it and incorporated it into the system. With the new line from Malpensa to Milan Centrale, there might not be much need for the Malpensa Express, so the branch from Saronno into Milan Cordona station might become unnecessary and they'll just keep Malpensa to Como. I don't know if you have to buy separate tickets, but it's been my impression that you could buy one ticket from Malpensa to Como.
