You don't say which meals, but I've never ordered dinner on an overnight train. I forget what time this one leaves, but I recall it being later than our US dinner time (they do eat quite late in Portugal-Spain). They usually serve a modest breakfast that is palatable but nothing great. Again, I don't remember the specifics of this train's breakfast. Bottom line, I wouldn't pay more for the meals they offer. There should be a club car where you can buy food and I usually buy a sandwich at the station (there is a sandwhich shop and small grocery at the Lisbon station).
