Madrid - Barajas Airport to Atocha Train Station

I'm flying into Madrid and am hoping to take the AVE to Sevilla soon after I arrive. Any suggestions as to the best way to get form the airport to the train station? Times, in general, associated with suggestions would be helpful so that I can ensure that I don't miss the train.

Trains leave Atocha for Sevilla on the hour from 7 am to 9 pm with extras at 7:30 am and 7:30 pm so you needn't be in a rush. There is a Metro station at the airport (Barajas) and at Atocha (Atocha Renfe) but you have to make two changes. Travel time would be about 30 minutes. Might be unhandy if you have more than one piece of luggage. A taxi would be about USD 25.

There is also a direct bus which may be the best option. The metro is too complicated.

There is a (new in November 2010) direct express bus from the airport to the train station...2 euors and 45 - 50 minutes I think. Will be easier and faster than the train. to the Atocha train station where you then catch the train to Sevilla, 2 1/2 hours from Madrid. Check the airport web site for the information . Every hour I believee.

Before I learned of this new 24x7 express bus HJ mentioned, my recommendation would have been to use the AeroCity shuttle service at around 25€ for up to four people. It's door-to-door direct from Barajas to your hotel, Atocha, wherever. But how can you possibly beat 2€ each all the way to Atocha...you can't? Try the new bus!
