Geneva to Rome

Traveling to Geneva and Rome late March. Is it better to take daytime train from Geneva or to fly?

Nancy, it depends if you want to spend over 7-9 hours on the train and arrive near the center of town or spend 1-1/2 hours flying....plus the 2 hours check-in etc and deal with the transport to & from each airport.

The fastest run shown on the Swiss train website is 8hrs3min with one train change at Milan. Some runs take up to 14hrs with 4 train changes so choose your train run carefully. The fare I see for the fast run is 211CHF. You can try the budget airlines such as Easyjet for the flight but its a bit late to get the really low fares (i.e. 29E). However, I am seeing flights on www.easyjet.com as low at 49CHF in late March. Better hurry if you want to book this kind of flight. Fares go up as the seats fill up and it gets closer to the date of the flight.
