Best option to go for the train? Is overnight an option? Anyone know how long it takes? Thanks!
You could travel at night but it is not a true "night train" because you would be changing trains at Milan and Bologna in the middle of the night (around 11 pm and again around 2 am). So the simplest way is probably to go by day, using the route Chamonix to Martigny to Brig to Milan to Venice. That is 4 changes and takes about 8 1/2 hours. You can see the route and schedules on the Swiss rail website at www.rail.ch
