Transport for London puts out weekly emails that will warn you which lines/stations on any given weekend are disrupted--this is important as Rick noted in his guidebook update as every weekend parts of the tube are shut and various stations as well. The same email also gives ideas as to events on for the weekend as well. They come out on Thursdays and can be subscribed at https://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/livetravelnews/plannedworks/default.aspx
