i have 4 nites and 5 days open ,i will be starting in barcelona ,anyone have any ideas what to do ? i do have a rail pass

we are renting a beach house in valencia for a week,than have 5 days before we leave, have already done switzerland and germany,thinking seville,madrid,barcelona,southern france ?

Lyle...I'm still a little confused. First you say you're starting in Barcelona....then you say you're renting in Valencia first. Those two places are quite far apart, and where you'll be will play a major role in suggestions for 5 extra days.

I would suggest you take the high speed rail from Barcelona to Madrid, spend a couple of days there, then come back to Barcelona and see the sights there. Day trips from Madrid include Segovia and Toledo, while day trips from Barcelona include Montserrat and even Tarragona. You will need reservations for the high speed AVE Barcelona-Madrid-Barcelona, and for Madrid-Segovia and Madrid-Toledo, so make them as soon as you can get to a RENFE station.
With only 5 days and four nights, that's about all you'll have time for....Sevilla and Granada are too distant to get to easily, and require a couple of days each on their own.
