I am worried about these reservations booking up/ the eurostar train is booked. Will I be safe to wait until I am in Italy Sept 28th in Milan. Florence to Rome the 4th of Oct. BeBe
Yes, but if you book in advance you can get a better fare.
Right now I see (via Trenitalia's website) a fare of 26.4 euros second class from Milan to Florence on 9/28 and 26.4 euros second class again from Florence to Rome on 10/4. Go to http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html for English language booking.
David above is referring to the "Amica" fare that you can get online. Standard 2nd class fare at the ticket window or at the automatic ticket machine is 33 Euro. The Amica fare online is 26.40 Euro. There is a savings of 6.60 Euro on each leg (Milan/Florence and Florence/Rome). As for your question above, you can easily wait until you get to Milan to purchase the tickets. There are several Eurostars that run between all three locations throughout the day and they don't usually fill up. And, when they do, it's pretty much at the last minute. 6 days is great.
thank you David and Larry. That is helpful information
