Rome to Florence

I have a very fluid travel plans in Italy. Is it easier to purchase train tixs at Termini rail station a day or two in advance of going to Florence, or could I purchase the day of travel 2nd class rail. My question, Does this train book heavy, if so would booking 2 days ahead help and how much would it cost.

You can purchase the day of your travel. There are lots of trains making that run. Just make sure you buy a ticket to Firenze SMN.

There is frequent service all day so buying your tickets one or two days ahead of time will work fine. Slow regional trains cost €14.90. The Espresso costs €17.90. IC and EC trains cost €27.50. EuroStar Italia trains cost €33.00.
