Tipping in Paris

What's the situation with tipping in Paris.I read in a guide that all restaraunts already include a service charge. What about all the smaller cafes, taxis etc. Don't want to appear rude to the Parisians.

The menu at restaurants will make it clear if the service is included by stating "service compris." Although, I think that I heard that by law restaurants in France are required to include it. But it is still customary to leave a few coins. There's tipping guide on the travel tips link I think by Rick's local tour guides who are familiar with individual country customs, so you should check that out for all the specifics. here's the link: http://www.ricksteves.com/plan/tips/eurotips.htm

If you do as Becca suggests you'll be fine. The tip is included as she says and if your meal and the service was good leave a little extra. I don't remember about taxis though, sorry someone else may be able to help you.
