I am a teacher and I am bringing 10 students from atlanta to rome then 10 days later we are flying from Paris back to Atlanta in June. The cheapest price I could find was around $1500. per person. Does anyone know a cheaper way to fly?
Michael,
You might have a look at This Website for information. I'm not sure if it applies to your situation, but it will be a start.
With a group of 10+, it might also be worthwhile to speak with a local Travel Agent, as they may have some good suggestions, especially as you'll be using "open jaw" flights.
Good luck and Happy Travels!
Flying with 10 is technically a group and will qualify you for group rates. But, I tried this last year when flying with a family group of 11, and was finding around the same rates that you've found. Not much of a group discount.
Summer sales haven't started yet. They probably will in the next month. I don't know how much this helps you, if you need to have a dollar amount to tell your students before that or not. Like suggested, check places like kayak. I know Delta usually puts their sales online on Tuesdays at midnight Atlanta time.
Greetings Michael,
Wonderful challenge your undertaking! Our family of four flew to Europe back in 97 on a school group Italy tour. Over twenty persons (Italian language class) on that junket. Milan to Rome, ten days later we were helplessly addicted to European culture and travel. Been to Europe five times since and will go back again this April and hopefully as many more times as God allows. My highest compliments to you and your chaperones for stretching the culture envelope of your students. Your a teacher who knows the value of his students! And yes they are worth it!
Can't help you find a less expensive flight. Your traveling during high season. Looks like your estimates are about the lowest price I can find too. I wish you the best of everything!
