This is probably a silly question, but I am looking on the Paris Metro map and am a little confused by the sketch at transfer stations. I'm looking specifically at the St. Michel Notre Dame station (although it can be found all over) and it shows a connection from the "main station" where RER lines B & C meet to metro station Cluny La Sorbonne, which seems like a pretty good distance from the main station. When the map shows a connection between two stations like this, is it an indication of an underground walkway between stations?
The Cluny La Sorbonne Station (Line 10) is indeed about 2 blocks (underground) from the RER B station.
Thankfully, most of this distance is belt-way people movers and (UP) escalators.
You wouldn't know from the map, but the RER B station is about 6 stories underground.
This station (SMND) is a good place to arrive from CDG. Since you will be exhausted, the automated walkways will be most welcome! Bon Voyage.
Merci all, this is very helpful in trying to envision the best way in from CDG.
Yes...and the map is not to scale. It's meant to be read easily.
Jeremy,
To add to Frank II's post, some of the transfer stations (Chatelet-Les Halles is one example) are quite large so there's a bit of a walk. However, there are often violin players or other entertainment, so the walks can be interesting.
Cheers!
Hi Jeremy... Ken is right. We have been to Paris over 20 times and we love walking in the metro connectors because there is always fine music of many different genre. We always buy CD's or DVD's from the person or group if we like what they are playing. It brings back great memories of Paris.
