40,000 free Interrail tickets for 18-year-olds by DiscoverEU program

Not sure how many young readers we have here from the EU, OCTs and the Erasmus+ programme countries but maybe you know somebody who knows somebody ...

Over the next two weeks, young Europeans can apply for free Interrail tickets. The European Commission is once again giving away more than 40,000 tickets to 18-year-olds through the DiscoverEU program (link to application portal).

To be eligible, people need to:

  • be born between 1 July 2007 (included) and 30 June 2008 (included);
  • complete the identity card (ID), passport or residence permit number in the online application form;
  • be citizen or resident of one of: the Member States of the European Union including its outermost regions, or the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) associated with the European Union, or the third countries associated to the Erasmus+ programme: Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Türkiye.

Good to know: This is an annual initiative, so feel free to inform the generations younger than 18 years old as well.

Happy travels.
