Could anyone help me in finding the fastest way from Budapest to Venice without going through Croatia? I have a railpass that covers several countries, but not Croatia. Planes, trains, and buses are all ok with me. Cost is really not a big issue. I just don't want to be on a train for 16 hours. Thanks.

SkyEurope flies that route Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, at anywhere from $90-150 U-S, one way. http://www1.skyeurope.com/en. It lands at Treviso airport outside Venice, but there are buses from there to Venice.

BTW....the train trips showing up on bahn.de are all just over 12 hours and go via Vienna, so no crossing Croatia.
