We're doing a home exchange with a family in Paris for 3 1/2 weeks and will be spending 10 days in Spain. We will have a car in Paris and Spain. We would like to travel around France, Spain and Portugal, want to know if we should buy a railpass, we're also traveling with three kids. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
I don't know that much about railpasses (others on this site know far more), but I can tell you this. Don't waste your money on a rental car in Paris. But, if the car is part of the home exchange, it could be useful for making trips in the areas around Paris. Within the city, though, it's much easier just to use the metro.
